This week we began learning about the Holiday of Rosh Hashana. We discussed how we are starting a new school year with new friends, new supplies and a new classroom. We learnt how Rosh Hashana is the start of the new Jewish year. We learnt about the custom to eat apples and honey on Rosh Hashana as we want to ask Hashem to give us a new sweet year. We contrasted sweet vs. sour by tasting both an apple and lemon. We discussed other customs we do on Rosh Hashana such as eating pomegranate which are full of seeds as we ask Hashem to give us a year full of Mitzvos. We will be continuing to learn about the Holiday this week and the following week.
